Di fronte all\u2019ingresso laterale della Chiesa della S.S. Trinit\u00e0 si apre Piazza Duca della Verdura, la cui costruzione risale al 1844. Lo storico Raffaele Riviello ricorda che fu Francesco Benso, Duca della Verdura, Intendente di Potenza dal 1842 al 1847, a trasformare \u201cl\u2019orrido luogo in cui capre e maiali guazzavano a loro bell\u2019agio in un mercato per la vendita delle carni\u201d.
Dapprima chiamato Largo Tassiello o della Trinit\u00e0 \u2013 per la presenza di una porta omonima che consentiva l\u2019accesso al suddetto largo -, la piazza venne successivamente intitolata al Duca della Verdura.
Il regolamento di polizia urbana e rurale stabil\u00ec che dal 1845 nel largo si dovesse svolgere la vendita della carne e del pesce.
Nel luglio del 1943, a seguito dei lavori di ampliamento del Largo Tassello o Trinit\u00e0, la Porta fu sostituita da una sorta di vicolo virtuale.
Oggi la piazza ha conservato in parte l\u2019antica destinazione commerciale, poich\u00e9 circondata da una serie di negozi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In front of the side entrance of the Church of the S.S. Trinit\u00e0 opens Piazza Duca della Verdura, whose construction dates back to 1844. First called Largo Tassiello or of the Trinity-due to the presence of a homonymous door that allowed access to the aforementioned wide -the square after got the name of the Duke of the Vegetable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The urban and rural police regulations established that meat and fish should be sold in the square from 1845.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In July 1943, following the expansion of Largo Tassello or Trinit\u00e0, the gate was replaced by a sort of virtual alley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today the square has partially preserved its ancient commercial destination, as it is surrounded by a series of shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
